Dak Prescott Announces Sad Truth About Cowboys 'Identity'
Nov 6, 2026 7:54 PM

There has been a lot of talk about the Cowboys' offense getting its identity and groove back, but for Prescott, the time for talking is over, now the unit has to go do it.

The Dallas Cowboys' offense over the past month has perhaps been the most surprising part of their inconsistent 3-5 record.

Entering the season, the offense, led by Dak Prescott, was supposed to be the one that we could bank on each week.

Well, we can't now.

From the inconsistent nature of the unit's play to their inability to go and win the game in crunch time (Ravens and Cardinals games), it has been tough sledding for a group we thought would be one of the best offenses in football this season.

For weeks, we have heard all the talk of how the offense has to be better, Brian Schottenheimer has to be better, players have to execute better, and in truth, Cowboys Nation is likely tired of all the talk.

Even Dak is.

"Yeah, words are all good, but we just got to go out there, put it together, and it's not just on offense, it's on defense, it's on special teams," Prescott said. "It's putting a full, complete, complementary game together from all three levels."

And that's the thing. Play complementary football.

Every team strives for it, and when you have an offense with Dak, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, you are supposed to find ways to win those close games.

But Dallas has failed twice. In fact, three times, as you can make the case that before the two-minute warning against Arizona was one, and then when the offense got the ball in overtime.

So, Dak was asked, have the Cowboys found an offensive identity?

"Yeah sure,'' he replied after a painfully long pause. "I mean, is it one we're proud of? I don't know."

Wow.

"It's frustrating," Prescott added. "When you have the standards and the expectations to go out there and to score every play, and you're not doing that, yeah, it's frustrating. Especially crunch time when you want to go win and you want to go win it on your terms and you don't get that done, and you put your defense in a tough situation.

With the Indianapolis Colts up next, who are in sell mode, we are going to get a good idea of where Dallas' mental and physical makeup is on Sunday.

On the road, with the pressure to keep their season alive against a team that is selling off its best players, this can't be another poor performance.

The calls for Schottenheimer to be fired, for Pickens to be traded, have been loud this week after the Cardinals debacle.

One can only imagine how loud it will be if Dallas succumbs to the Colts.
