From a poor performance to dismissive postgame comments and a heated tunnel confrontation, Dallas’s star quarterback failed to lead as the Cowboys crumbled against the winless Buccaneers.

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Dallas Cowboys had just been curb-stomped 24-16 here at AT&T Stadium by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on "Thursday Night Football,'' and team leader Dak Prescott, over the course of the evening, offered up three reactions.

And Dak struck out, because on those reactions, he was 0-for-3.

How do I count the ways?

1 - He was "wrong'' in how he reacted to the visit from the previously winless Bucs, as he played so poorly.

2 - He was wrong in his postgame comments when he suggested, "This is a game ... we're supposed to win.''

3 - He was wrong to lash out at a vocal critic who hooted the word "Embarrassing!'' as Prescott was trudging up the postgame tunnel.

Was this a game Dallas was "supposed'' to win? Include the fact that the Cowboys were going against a bad team featuring a rookie UDFA quarterback?

The gamblers get to think that.

The Cowboys, now losers at 2-3 this season and laughable at 9-12-1 in the coach Brian Schottenheimer era, have not earned the right to even think such a thing.

Instead, somebody named "Jalon Daniels'' looked completely comfortable against overmatched coordinator Christian Parker and his defense. Over 400 yards of total offense was allowed, including 241 yards on the ground plus several chunk plays ...

So "Jalon Daniels'' outplayed Prescott, who was victimized by teammates with throws volleyballing from their hands into interceptions.

Nevertheless, insisted Dak, "This is a game that was a game we're supposed to have on paper ... In this league, you've got to win the games you're supposed to win. And when a winless team comes into your home stadium on a Thursday night primetime game, yeah, we're supposed to win that. So it sucks.”

And, Dak, it was "embarrassing,'' right?

“Guy's been a winning coach for a long time,'' Prescott said of beleaguered Bucs coach Todd Bowles. "So to say 'embarrassing,' I think I'd be discrediting them, but we're definitely supposed to win this game.

So ... "not embarrassing''?

Prescott capped off a night in which his stats (24 of 42 passes for 316 yards, one touchdown and two picks) were largely fake by allowing himself to be drawn into a stare-down with a fan/valet driver who blurted out the "E-word,'' drawing the ire of the $60 million QB.

"I know when he said it, I just happened to look at him, and at that point, you know, he looked away, and then when I turned my head back, he said something else," Prescott said later. "And so that's the part that, as a man, feel free to speak your mind, but speak it, and don't cower away from the reaction that you're going to get.

"So, if you're saying it's embarrassing, say it's embarrassing. If you're saying it to me, then say it to me, you know what I mean? Don't go back on it. ...''

Dak ... you have got to be kidding me. You're wasting time - in the tunnel and in the postgame presser - trying to win a debate by questioning the manhood of a random yelping fan?

OK, you win.

Prescott's Cowboys couldn't beat the crummy Bucs.

But he absolutely dominated the "cowering'' valet driver.
