With the 2026 NFL Draft just over a month away, the Dallas Cowboys are narrowing their search of prospective targets.

The Dallas Cowboys were fairly active in the first week of free agency - much to the surprise and (maybe) appreciation of the fan base - but the next month of the offseason will be devoted heavily to the 2026 NFL Draft, where the two first-round picks Dallas owns will be extremely important to the makeup of next year's roster.

With holes still open on the defense (linebacker and EDGE), most pundits expect the No. 12 and 20 selections to be dedicated to improving new coordinator Christian Parker's squad.

Entering this week, the secondary was also considered to be one of the most glaring needs on the roster, but owner Jerry Jones' front office quieted those concerns to some degree in free agency.

Dallas locked in deals with do-it-all safety Jalen Thompson, veteran depth safety P.J. Locke, and fringe-starter cornerback Cobie Durant.

But, could there be more focus on the defensive back room?

If so, the Cowboys' positioning in the first round could be suited well for the draft's top DB prospects.

Indeed, according to a report, the Cowboys are scheduling one of their 30 NFL Draft visits with top cornerback standout Mansoor Delane of LSU, foreshadowing potential interest in adding even more to the new-look defense. College football insider Ryan Fowler sources the info, and says Delane is one of the "premier" corners in the class.

Jones and the Cowboys often cast a wide net with these 30 non-local visits they are allowed leading up to the April 23 first round. Dallas will likely bring in a collection of different prospect types on both sides of the ball, but this indication that they'll be eager to scout defensive backs is assuring.

Even with a respectable haul in free agency, Delane is considered to be one of the leading candidates to be drafted No. 12 by "America's Team". And for good reason.

Delane measured as one of the best athletes at this year's Scouting Combine and is projected to be a "Year 1 starter" on his draft profile. With third-round pick Shavon Revel Jr. still gearing up for a full offseason program and larger workload after last year's knee injury, bringing in another starting-caliber corner can't be a bad idea.

The Cowboys were one of the league's worst pass defense, so the obvious attention on the secondary so far this offseason could easily - and wisely - continue at the top of the draft.

"He excels in press coverage, altering release timing with punches and slides," says Delane's scouting report. "Smooth hips and efficient footwork keep him connected in man coverage, while his processing allows for quick transitions in off-man and short zone looks. He has good top-end speed for vertical phasing but is inconsistent turning to find the football."

"Delane is one of the top cornerbacks in a CB-rich draft."

Jerry Jones' crew has his eye on him, and he's locked in a visit that expresses that interest.
