This offseason has felt different in a variety of ways for the Cowboys, and even No. 4's noticed it.
One big theme coming out of the Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been the franchise has been moving differently.
From getting contracts done early, to the hiring process of Christian Parker, to the free agency signings, and most importantly, no off-field drama from players...or Jerry.
It has everyone in Cowboys Nation cautiously optimistic about what could be in store for the 2026 season.
The George Pickens situation had the potential to be a huge story this offseason and even derail it; instead, it was done quickly, and No. 3 has been a star of the offseason for Dallas.
There's been no drama, no back-and-forth, no nothing.
In fact, even in the national media, when the Cowboys are brought up, it's about football and their Super Bowl chances, not whatever crazy headline is threatening to derail this football team.
And Dak Prescott has noticed it.
"I think it not only allows us to be focused, but the narrative around us and the distraction or attention or whatever you want to say around us to be focused on just ball,” Prescott said. “Ultimately, that helps the environment coming to work.
"It's not a distraction of the culture or is this guy coming back, a valuable guy, or is he going to get paid? We know what we've got. We know who we've got, and we're ready to roll.”
That's the big thing here. No distractions.
And as such, the positive vibes have been flowing since OTAs began, through Oxnard and training camp, and since the team arrived back at The Star.
There's nothing but energy, hope and excitement for the new football season.
And again, it's something No. 4 has noticed, and in a big way, too. But he knows that positive vibes mean nothing once the season begins.
"It's definitely different," Prescott said on the positive vibes. "I'm optimistic going into every season, it's an NFL season, positive vibes and good energy doesn't win you games. We've put ourselves in a great position. We put ourselves right where we need to be to go and give ourselves the best chance to have a great week of practice and win week one up there in New York.
“Right now, the energy, everything's great, but we got to make sure we're doing everything to be accountable to each other and just continue on that trajectory, but we've got to go do it. We've got to go win games”
This offseason has gone about as well as it could have gone for Dallas.
No drama, positive views on draft selections, free agency, Parker's defense, the offense, and everything in between.
It's all been good.
But once the ball is snapped at MetLife Stadium on the first Sunday night of the NFL season, it won't mean a thing...especially if Dallas loses.
