DeMarvion Overshown 'Tired Of Learning Lessons' With Losing Cowboys
Nov 2, 2026 8:11 PM

The defense played superbly well in the first half, but then capitulated in the second half, allowing the Cardinals to come from the clouds to win in overtime.

The Dallas Cowboys slumped to yet another horror defeat, adding to the ever-growing list in the Brian Schottenheimer era, as the Arizona Cardinals stunned them with a 33-30 overtime win at AT&T Stadium.

The defense, in the first half, showed remarkable improvement.

The unit got sacks, forced stops, and an interception, and kept Jacoby Brissett to 8 of 20 for 104 yards, and the Cardinals offense to just 136 total yards and 3/10 on third down.

The second half? After Brissett was replaced midway through the third quarter by Gardner Minshew, it was like prime Tom Brady had arrived.

Minshew would end his short-lived time on the field going 17 of 23 for 188 yards and 3 TDs, while having a 137.3 rating. Oh, and at one stage, he led four straight touchdown drives (one a Tyler Allgeier rushing touchdown).

Then, with a little over a minute left in regulation, Minshew orchestrated a 10-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a Trey McBride touchdown to draw level, but the missed extra point sent it to overtime.

Allgeier had a 63-yard rushing touchdown and followed that up with a 50+ yard run the next time he touched the football as the Cowboys' defense was obliterated.

And for linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, when asked what the difference between the first and second half was, even he didn't know.

“To be honest, I wish I had the answer to that,” Overshown said. “I really don't know what happened that second half. Wasn’t tackling great, giving up explosives, just stuff you can't do. Like 17-3, that's a time to choke them out as we want it.

"But you let a NFL team play and keep close in any game, we already know how these games are. They never over into the fourth quarter. So it's a lesson we got to learn. Tired of learning this lesson, but it's another lesson we got to learn.”

And there is a big alarm bell here.

Overshown saying he's "tired of learning this lesson," which to us means the staff has gone over this sort of problem again and again, yet it doesn't change.

There's no doubt about it. This is rock bottom for the Cowboys.

They led the game up until the Cardinals kicked the field goal in overtime, and now slump to 3-5.

There should be no more "buyer" talk as the trade deadline looms, and now the pitchforks will be coming for the head coach after yet another horror performance.

Overshown is tired of having to learn the same lesson week in, week out, and I'd imagine Cowboys Nation is rather tired of seeing this team consistently underperforming at the most inopportune time.
