George Pickens and his Cowboys contract are the big talking point of the offseason, and Jerry might have let slip his thoughts on No. 3.

It is no secret that DallasCowboys receiver George Pickens is going to be a significant pay rise this offseason.

A soon-to-be free agent, Pickens played on the final year of his rookie deal, which was a little over $6 million.

Now, given his 1,429-yard, 9-TD season in Dallas that ended with his first Pro Bowl, George is going to be handsomely paid.

We have spoken at length about the franchise tag being the first step in this contract negotiation, set at $28 million APY for the 2026 season.

If that is the route Dallas takes, then it will give itself some time to work out a long-term deal for Pickens...if it wants it.

Keeping George long-term will be costly, and you can make the case for No. 3 to be paid like CeeDee Lamb. A deal somewhere near $34 million APY, if not more, could be negotiated.

But we don't know how the Cowboys feel about having Pickens long term ... until now.

Owner Jerry Jones might have hinted that he doesn't just want George on the franchise tag; he wants him on a multi-year deal.

"Well, I'm talking to George all the time by virtue of my excitement for him," Jerry said. "He's better than as far as what he contributed to our team, showing the potential that he could contribute. So I'm looking forward to getting things worked out, so George can be a Cowboy a long time."

Well, once again, Jerry is saying what Cowboys Nation wants to hear, but they aren't interested in talk anymore. That's cheap.

They want action.

After the 2025 season saw the offense be elite with Pickens, Lamb, and Dak Prescott at the helm, and the defense be woeful, keeping the offense together is key.

That will then allow Christian Parker's unit to get several upgrades at key spots to strengthen the glaring weakness of this roster.

It is shaping up as a key offseason for the Cowboys. Having already shifted their way of doing things in the coordinator search, are we about to see a change in approach to contracts and free agency?

Cowboys Nation sure hopes so.
