Former Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz has detailed just how much value having a player like Dak Prescott can bring.

You will be hard-pressed to find any player as maligned as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Most of the backlash comes from his inability to make the NFC Championship game during his 10 seasons, because attacking the person or leader Dak is won't get you very far.

Our own Mike Fisher once spoke with Hall of Famer Troy Aikman, who said Dak was the best leader he's ever seen. That's quite the endorsement.

In truth, Dak's ability to bring the locker room together, to navigate the circus his owner creates, and to keep the main thing the main thing is superb.

And for former Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz, who was a guest on 105.3 The Fan during Super Bowl week, he detailed how special Dak really is.

"Dude, people don't understand what a quarterback can do for a program when you have as much integrity and as much leadership as he does," Schultz said.

"Truly, galvanizing to an entire franchise. And, like, obviously, that will never truly come through unless you've been in a locker room with him."

There's no doubt that Prescott brings a calming element to an otherwise volatile franchise.

But another thing we know about Prescott is his ability to bring others along and hold them to his standards.

The trips in the offseason with his receivers and tight ends to work on chemistry are just one example of Dak doing his best to make those around him better.

"If you've been around him, if you've worked out with him, trained with him, if you're around him for an extended period of time at all, it's so clear to see," Schultz added.

"His energy, his leadership is truly infectious. The best leader that I've ever been around, probably in my life."

That is quite the endorsement from Schultz, who spent five years with Prescott and had his best season ever with No. 4.

In truth, it's nothing we haven't heard before.

Dak is elite at a lot of things, and the leadership qualities, his intangibles, his work at the podium in a win or a loss, it is all exactly what you want from a franchise quarterback.

The only thing missing is that Super Bowl win to tie everything together in a neat bow.
