We have seen Miller post on social media of himself edited into a Cowboys uniform, so how could the franchise get the future Hall of Famer through the doors?
It feels like every offseason for the past decade Von Miller has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys.
For most of the time, it was a dream to get Miller to Dallas, with the franchise not willing to shell out the necessary money or even pick up the phone to gauge interest.
And here we are again, in another offseason, with the Cowboys linked to Miller.
But there's something different about this. It's Von himself making a connection, posting on social media of himself edited into a Cowboys uniform.
Cue the hysteria.
It is well known that the Cowboys' edge position needs a little more juice, and it isn't like Miller, who is 36 years old at the time of writing, isn't producing.
Last season with the Washington Commanders, Miller posted 9.0 sacks, 15 quarterback hits, and 6 tackles for loss. Oh, and he only started three games and played 37 percent of defensive snaps.
So, how does he get to the Cowboys? The answer to that might be George Pickens.
How? Let's walk through it.
With Pickens franchise tagged for 2026, the Cowboys have until July 15th to get a long-term deal done; otherwise, he plays on the tag, which is $27.3 million.
Right now, per Over The Cap, Dallas has just $5.4 million in cap space.
Miller signed a one-year $6.1 million deal with the Commanders last offseason, so the Cowboys would need to do some financial reshuffling to get Miller through the door.
And one way to do that is to extend Pickens, as per Over The Cap, which would create $20.8 million in cap space.
Now you have the financial means to sign Miller to be a pure pass rusher and mentor to the younger edge rushers on the roster.
Will Dallas, all of a sudden, work feverishly to get a long-term deal done for Pickens just to sign Miller? We all know the answer to that.
But don't let the Cowboys tell you they can't make a move like this because of cap constraints. They have the means to do it. They just might not want to.
Miller to Dallas is an intriguing thought, and the franchise has avenues to get him to The Star.
It is clear Von, a Texas native, has a soft spot for the Cowboys, so why not team up again with Christian Parker to further bolster this Dallas defense?
