As Dallas reels from an inept offensive showing at Lambeau Field, Brian Schottenheimer doubles down on his philosophy while facing mounting pressure to fix the team's execution.

The Dallas Cowboys are in a world of hurt right now after their 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday night.

In truth, the loss could have been even worse, as the Packers had receivers drop three touchdowns in the end zone.

The offense looked flat, and after a 10-day break, it didn't have any answers to Jonathan Gannon's defense, which, again, falls on the coaching staff.

The Christian Parker-led defense gave up "just" 23 points, and while the unit did grab its first interception and had a couple of sacks, overall, it was still a poor performance despite a little improvement with the Packers dropping three touchdown passes.

Such was the ineptitude of the offense, particularly the Packers' pressure packages and blitzes, that Dak Prescott was a sitting duck; now it all falls at the feet of the head coach, Brian Schottenheimer.

But what did he think was the reason the Cowboys fell apart on Sunday Night Football?

“The effort is right, the fight is right, the mistakes are killing us. Repeating mistakes is not what we’re about," Schottenheimer said.

Well, right now, it is what you're about, Schotty, because it happens every week.

And there's more ...

"I'm not opposed to shaking things up,' he said. "That's different than saying I'm not gonna change. I'm never gonna change. I'm not gonna change who I am ... doesn't mean we're not willing to change things up and look at things. ...''

We're going to be fair here and not just parse Schotty's statement. But that "I'm never going to change'' part''?

That probably won't hit right with Cowboys Nation.

The big thing that fans want to know is where do the Cowboys go from here?

The offense was supposed to be the one thing that the team could bank on week in and week out while the defense found its feet. But now the offense is just plain bad, and it's paired with a poor defense- a worrying formula- as the Packers outschemed and outcoached Dallas in every facet.

So, what now?

“Go back to work," Schottenheimer said. "That’s what we’re going to do. Our guys are going to respond. It’s not the effort. It’s execution.”

Well, after 10 days to prepare, the Cowboys didn't seem like a team that had that long to prepare, as the Packers showed them a clean set of heels.

Dak Prescott is a veteran quarterback, and his coaching staff didn't give him any answers to the pressure from the Packers' defense, and we haven't even mentioned the play-calling from Schottenheimer. I lost count of how many times curl routes were run short of the sticks, as the explosive offense was nowhere to be seen.

Last week was a bad performance from the Cowboys, but we chalked it up to being the final game in a 12-day stretch.

But what's the excuse from this one?
