The Cowboys have been linked with nearly every defensive player in the NFL Draft, but this latest name is rather interesting.
The Dallas Cowboys are going to be a must-watch in the NFL Draft, mainly because the franchise holds two first-round picks and could shape the early selections.
Holding picks No. 12 and No. 20, the Cowboys can have their pick of defensive talent if they trade up, which some think the franchise could and might do.
With eyes on Sonny Styles, Mansoor Delane, Caleb Downs, Rueben Bain Jr., and David Bailey, Dallas has the ammunition to get one of those players if it wants.
That takes care of the main defensive players at the top of the draft, but the Cowboys, if they stay at No. 12, could also look to take a player not many are really talking about.
We've heard of Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman and Tennessee corner Jermod McCoy, who Stephen Jones said the franchise was still working through his availability after his ACL injury.
But now, thanks to NFL insider Peter Schrager, who was a guest on DLLS Cowboys, there's another name to look for when it comes to Dallas.
And that's Auburn defensive end, Keldric Faulk.
"The name that I keep hearing, I'm not sure if it's 12 or 20, I keep hearing Keldric Faulk and the Cowboys being tied together, I keep hearing that name," Schrager said. "That might be at 12, or that might be at 20. But this is people not in the Cowboys organization, but from others around the league.
"Faulk is a name that keeps popping up to the Cowboys. And it's probably more likely at 20 than 12. But if all those defensive players are off the board, maybe they reach and take him at 12. I can't say it's real, but there is definitely smoke to Falk at some place in the Cowboys realm."
At 12? That would be shocking. At 20? The Cowboys need pass-rush help, and Faulk could fit the bill.
While he's coming off a down year with Auburn, posting just 2.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles for loss, Faulk is a high-motor rusher who is also elite against the run. That is something the Cowboys will obviously like.
Taking him at No. 12 might be seen as a little bit of a reach, but if Dallas is wiped off the board when it picks, then maybe Faulk could be the prospect the franchise selects. ... shocking as it might seem.
