It is another list, and another time where Dak might have gotten the short end of the stick.
Is there a player in the NFL who divides opinion more than Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott? I doubt it.
For some, Dak is in the upper echelon of quarterbacks (top 10-ish), while for others, he's just downright not good.
For those who have followed Dak's career, he has the regular-season numbers to back up his status as a top-10 quarterback, but the 2-5 playoff record isn't great. As such, we are awaiting that career-defining playoff run for No. 4.
Dak's 2025 season, you could argue, was one of, if not the best of his career, and yes, a 7-9-1 record makes you think, what am I on about, but Prescott was elite for the majority of 2025.
He threw for 4,552 yards, 30 TDs, and just 10 interceptions. Such was Dak's level of play in the first half of the year that he was in the MVP discussion.
Of course, that faded in the backend of the year, but Prescott did grab his fourth Pro Bowl nod.
Now, as we look ahead to 2026, we are seeing all sorts of lists come out, and CBS Sports' Pete Prisco has dropped his top 100 players.
For Dak, he has him at No. 43, after being No. 90 in 2024.
"Coming off an injury-shortened 2024 season, he bounced back to play all 17 games in 2025," Prisco wrote. "He threw 30 touchdown passes and 10 picks for a Cowboys offense that played loose because of a bad defense."
Right, Dak in the top 50? Yeah, we can live with that.
However, there is something sticking in my paw about this list.
I'll preface this by stating that I assume this list isn't based solely on the 2025 season, although Prisco's words on Dak seem to point that way.
But Dak, at No. 43, is the sixth-highest quarterback. Neither here nor there. But the others in front of him? Yeah, we have questions.
Lamar Jackson at No. 10, Patrick Mahomes at No. 7, Joe Burrow at No. 5. You can make the case, perhaps rather easily, that Prescott had a better year than all of them.
Dak had more yards, more touchdowns and more wins.
The others ahead of Dak are Josh Allen (No. 3) and Matthew Stafford (No. 2). You can make a case that Prescott shouldn't be ahead of those two. That's fine. No arguments here.
For reference, Jordan Love (No. 51), Jared Goff (No. 57), Drake Maye (No. 61), Justin Herbert (No. 63), Trevor Lawrence (No. 65), Jayden Daniels (No. 69), Caleb Williams (No. 70), Sam Darnold (No. 72), Brock Purdy (No. 75), Baker Mayfield (No. 80), Jalen Hurts (No. 84), and Bo Nix (No. 87) are the other quarterbacks named.
Does Dak deserve to be above Lamar, Mahomes, and Burrow? For me, if it is based solely on 2025, absolutely. So why isn't he? Your guess is as good as mine.
Prescott had a superb 2025 season, and should be a little higher on this list.
But Dak disrespect is nothing new for No. 4, right?
