The Cowboys got a much-needed win in Houston, but now face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a short week, and Dak doesn't want to sit on this win for long.
The Dallas Cowboys are back in the winner's circle after a Sunday 34-30 victory over the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.
After so much talk about the failures of last week in Rio, the Cowboys found themselves in the same situation, except this time, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb connected for the go-ahead touchdown with 40 seconds left.
The success now moves Dallas to 2-2 with the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium up next on Thursday ... and this was a win that the Cowboys had to have.
Having taken accountability for last week's error-plagued loss to the Ravens, head coach Brian Schottenheimer didn't coach scared. He coached to win, and that is exactly what happened.
It was a stirring win for the Cowboys, but for Dak, who ended his day going 32 of 45 for 335 yards and a touchdown, he's already planning on turning the page pretty quickly.
"There's nothing like winning," Prescott said. "I want to say it fixes all the problems, but it doesn't. It makes you feel good for a day or so, but at this point, we've got to turn the page and get ready for Thursday. We can't sit here and have some winning hangover, it's early in the season, no different than last week's loss.
"Now it's about stacking these wins with great momentum and just belief in the team that we've created."
And Dak is right.
Given the state of the division with the New York Giants at 3-1, and Dallas and Philadelphia at 2-2, it is well and truly up for grabs, and with the winless Buccaneers up next, the Cowboys have a shot at moving above .500 for the first time in 2026.
So yes, the win was exactly what this team needed after the nightmare in Rio, but now they can't let that hang over them. Yes, it was good, but move on. The classic 24-hour rule, as Schottenheimer often states.
And it appears Dak will use it too, because they earned the right to celebrate a little, but it's back to work for these Cowboys, even after such a stirring win on the road.
