“It’s that time. It’s time to go,” Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown said recently. “When I get between those lines, the sky is the limit for me. I’m not saying that to be cocky or anything, but I know what I bring to the field. ... I know what I’m capable of.''

FRISCO - Reinforcements for coordinator Matt Eberflus’ embattled Dallas Cowboys defense are coming, folks, with linebacker DeMarvion Overshow being activated from the PUP list, signaling his long-awaited return.

Plus, rookie cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. has been activated from NFI as well, so two big additions are coming for Eberflus as attention turns to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11.

We do think that safeties Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker could also join the pair, but as of yet, nothing has been made official on those two.

Still, with the trade deadline additions of Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, coupled with Overshown and Revel Jr. - both of whom will no doubt be on a pitch count when they return - the Cowboys’ defense should be better, right?

Overshown, by the way, is still slated to debut not this week, but sometime after the Raiders game. ... and that projects to being fun stuff.

Overshown tore ligaments in his right knee last year and he missed his rookie season in 2023 with a torn ACL in his left knee. When he has been able to play? Overshown had 90 tackles, five sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 13 games before his injury.

Overshown - who will be the first Cowboys player to wear No. 0 in a game once he makes his 2025 debut - is a colorful player and a colorful person and he's spoken about the challenge of his return and the joy in the path.

“It’s that time. It’s time to go,” Overshown said recently. “… When I get between those lines, the sky is the limit for me. I’m not saying that to be cocky or anything, but I know what I bring to the field. ... I know what I’m capable of.

Last year was still just me getting my feet wet so we still really haven’t seen what all I can do.”

Oh, and team owner Jerry Jones is fired up as well when it comes to the Texas Longhorns product, who was Dallas' third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Said Jones via 105.3 The Fan: "He has had, frankly, an amazing rehab. He was moving really good at training camp. He's been very active, moving up and down in practices. He's a great, talented player and overachieving is his makeup. Fundamentally, I would expect him to step right in and be familiar with what we're doing. It's going to be interesting to see how many snaps he plays."

That's a smart and cautionary take by Jones regarding a pitch count. Eventually, though? And taking the influx of rehabbing guys as a whole as it relates to Dallas’ defense?

In truth, it can’t get any worse, and if the Cowboys, who sit at 3-5-1, are to make an unlikely charge for postseason football, the defense is going to have to be average at least and pull its weight.

Granted, Dak Prescott and the offense have to perform, too, and there has been some sputtering in that department over the past couple of weeks, but maybe the bye has come at the right time.

The “across the hall” meetings would have been interesting this week as the Cowboys assess what has gone right and what hasn’t from the first two months of the season.

Now, rested and with reinforcements coming into the team, coach Brian Schottenheimer’s unit simply has to get a win over the lowly Raiders on “Monday Night Football’‘ to get back on track.

And we’d imagine Overshown will eventually be a big part of whatever Dallas can accomplish after that.
