In the aftermath of the Eagles win, the Cowboys have made two roster moves. What comes next?

The feel-good vibes for the Dallas Cowboys have returned, albeit slightly, after their 38-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

Now at 3-4, the Cowboys are beginning to finally get healthy on defense, with DeMarvion Overshown and Cobie Durant both playing on Monday night.

And it appears the treatment room could be clearing out even more ahead of Dallas' Week 8 clash against the Arizona Cardinals.

How do we know?

Well, the Cowboys have just waived running back Emari Demercado (second time) and tight end DJ Rogers.

Usually, when a team waives players, it is due to others who are injured being close to returning. And two options stick out immediately.

Linebacker Marist Liufau and safety PJ Locke III, to us, are prime candidates to return, as both had their windows opened to return last week.

So both could be activated for Week 8, giving first-year coordinator Christian Parker two more weapons to get his defense up and running properly.

This is a more logical assumption than what seems like a fanciful thought that Dallas is making room for another trade to help the defense ... though Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is again on-record regarding his willingness to do a deal before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

"It's unlikely we'll get the opportunity from outside coming in, but if it's there, I'll do it," Jones said via 105.3 The Fan.

That suggests to us that maybe Dallas has done some homework on an assortment of rumored candidates (let's add the Chargers' Khalil Mack to the list of usual suspects that includes the Raiders' Maxx Crosby, the Cardinals' Josh Sweat, the Dolphins' Jordyn Brooks, the Steelers' overflowing pot of pass-rushers, and the like. The Sweat thing is heating up in the media, but our Mike Fisher reports that Dallas has done some "due diligence'' there and he believes it's not a "price match at this time.'')

As the D stands now?

It was still a tough watch defensively in the win over the Eagles, as Tanner McKee looked like a Pro Bowler early, orchestrating touchdowns on the first two drives, before the defense stiffened.

But then, to open the third quarter, the defense regressed to the poor unit we've seen over the first six weeks, allowing McKee to go 84 yards on 19 plays for a touchdown to give the Eagles the lead.

Now, it didn't last long, but those types of drives might not happen if the Cowboys were a little more buttoned up, and maybe Locke and Liufau returning might help that.

Parker has been trying to get this thing off the ground with essentially the same players as Matt Eberflus did last year, as the key players signed this offseason, Locke, Jalen Thompson, and Durant, haven't played often, if at all.

The only one who has is Rashan Gary, who has been underwhelming at times. And I'm not counting Caleb Downs or Malachi Lawrence.

Said Jones: "It is evolving [defensively]. Probably we were all too ambitious to think that you could have better results than what you're talking about. But that's what we are.

"We can get better. We have the potential to get better. We've got players over there that are talented, as good a overall group talent-wise as we've had in several years."

So, reinforcements could be on the way for this embattled defense, and we still don't know when Thompson, who was Parker's "big" signing this offseason, will return.

But maybe with these two roster moves, we might see Liufau and Locke back for the Cardinals clash.

It's a small change, but at least it's a start.
