Clark is around for a full offseason in Dallas, and it is already clear he's loving life under Christian Parker.
Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Kenny Clark is finally able to get a full offseason of work at The Star, having been part of the Micah Parsons trade late last year.
Clark was fine, but not the player fans or the Cowboys thought they were getting.
But now, he gets to go through OTAs and then training camp to dive into Christian Parker's scheme and to be one of the key cogs in bringing that vision to life.
Seen as one of Parker's crucial pieces along the defensive line, Clark says he is primarily a nose tackle but can play "everything" if Parker asks.
Exactly what his role in Parker's defense is, at least right now, is unknown, but as the offseason rolls on and we get to training camp, that will become clear.
But what has the veteran loved most about Parker's scheme?
"Just attention to detail," Clark said. "This defense is going to be huge on the details and just pre- snap. So all of that stuff is going to be really good for us. We got a lot of smart players, all three levels of the defense."
With Clark coming in so late in the offseason, he had to learn Matt Eberflus' system on the fly while making it work on the field.
Even for a veteran, that's a tough ask, and the production wasn't where it needed to be as he played all 17 games and recorded 3.0 sacks, nine quarterback hits, and six tackles for loss.
But how beneficial will it be for Kenny to have a full offseason to work on his craft and perfect this scheme?
"It's huge," he added. "This is my first one, and that's what I said at the end of last year. I just can't wait to get with the guys and just establish that culture, show the guys how I work every day.
"We got a lot of great guys that we brought in that's all about the right stuff and just showing we work in the right way and we [are] intentional about every day, and that's trickling down to everybody."
So for all of the Cowboys' additions this offseason, maybe those who were acquired, like Clark and Quinnen Williams, are being forgotten.
They are talented players who are getting a full offseason to mesh with the rest of the roster and to perfect Parker's defense.
Will that translate into tangible results? That's the hope.
