Ravens back out of a blockbuster trade for Maxx Crosby. Now, the Cowboys get an unexpected second shot at the star pass rusher.

We often say that the NFL is a never-say-never league, and the Dallas Cowboys might have just gotten a second chance no one saw coming.

With the Baltimore Ravens agreeing to send two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, the thought was that the deal was done.

Well, in what is a truly bizarre situation, the Ravens have gone back on their trade with the Raiders and have backed out.

According to various reports, Corsby failed his medical with the Ravens after undergoing knee surgery at the end of the season.

Now, the Cowboys and Jerry Jones have a second chance at Maxx.

Having already been beaten out for Crosby, as the franchise wasn't willing to part ways with two first-round picks, could the franchise circle back to Maxx?

We say, absolutely, they should.

No, we're not saying the franchise should part ways with both first-rounders this time; Dallas was smart to pass on that demand.

But ...

Gauge the Raiders' interest to see if they are willing to listen to that original Dallas offer - a first, a future second and a player - again?

The obvious answer is yes.

And of course Maxx has to pass their physical, too.

Even with Rashan Gary being traded for, there is still room for more players along the defensive line.

Meanwhile ...

We have heard whispers and rumors that Osa Odighizuwa might be available for trade, so he could be used as part of any deal.

It has been a slow but steady start to free agency for Dallas, with Gary, Jalen Thompson and PJ Locke being added.

But now the chance has come around (again) for Jerry to truly "bust the budget.''

Will the Cowboys step to the plate for a second swing at Maxx?
