Pickens was a Pro Bowler in his first year as a Cowboy, so what does he have in store in Year 2?
What Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens does for an encore in Year 2 is going to be a fascinating watch.
Last season, Pickens was superb, posting 1,429 yards and 9 TDs to earn his first-ever Pro Bowl nod as one of Dallas' best weapons.
And he did that all the while still learning his teammates, the scheme, and moving to a different city.
He doesn't have that now.
Pickens is settled as a Cowboy, is now more familiar with Brian Schottenheimer's scheme, and his chemistry with Dak Prescott is only getting stronger after their throwing trip to Park City.
So, when asked if anything is different heading into Year 2 in Dallas, Pickens had a rather interesting reply.
"Not too much different, Park City when we had the camaraderie and we've been doing it for a while before we actually got out here," Pickens said. "It's been kind of smooth. Now, last year when I first got here, I was kind of like some of the other guys, just trying to get the groove of it, trying to know some guys while I'm getting in the groove of it, while I'm trying to learn to play."
So now Pickens is in a groove and that can only mean good things for him and the offense.
We know how tough it was on Quinnen Williams being a mid-season trade, and for Pickens, it was tougher to a lesser extent because he had an entire training camp with the Cowboys.
But we can't underestimate what having another full offseason, with the same players, same coaches, same scheme (roughly), can do for a player like Pickens.
He was electric last season, so we can only imagine what could be in store now that he is properly settled in as a Cowboy.
We know of Pickens' contract status, and the 2026 season will be important for getting the long-term deal he desires, which most likely will see him earn near top-of-the-market money.
We don't know if it will be in Dallas, but one thing we do know: a settled Pickens in a groove will only mean one thing for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in 2026...Pickens is going to be an absolute handful for defenses.
