The Oxnard portion of training camp is over, and Brian Schottenheimer revealed 10 players who have exceeded expectations this offseason.
The Dallas Cowboys have left Oxnard as the franchise now returns to The Star, and there are several players who have been standouts in camp.
Granted, we knew that some of them had to show something, while others were a pleasant surprise.
And in fact, head coach Brian Schottenheimer, in his final press conference in Oxnard, revealed 10 players who had exceeded his expectations in Oxnard.
Let's go through them.
Caleb Downs:
Schottenheimer called Downs a "special player" and one who never makes the same mistake twice. For a rookie who came into camp with huge expectations, at least from outside the building, to then exceed them in Oxnard, that's something special, folks.
Rashan Gary:
The veteran pass rusher has come to the Cowboys and immediately made his presence known both on and off the field.
Schottenheimer stated that Gary's leadership has "jumped out" in camp, and while some are sleeping on what kind of player Rashan can be in 2026, it's clear he's gearing up for a big year.
Otito Ogbonnia:
Having been a part-time starter in the league, Otito has come to Oxnard and has been a consistent threat, and he is likely to see the field often under Parker.
"You talk about a guy that we thought we were getting maybe a run stopper, this guy's a good football player, massive, really strong with his hands," Schottenheimer said.
Shavon Revel Jr.:
This one is great. Revel Jr. has been a shining light in Oxnard, making play after play against Dak Prescott and the offense. He also had a near pick-six against the Seattle Seahawks in the first preseason game.
He's in a battle with Cobie Durant for a starting spot, and Schottenheimer stated he's "proud" of what Shavon has done this offseason.
Camden Brown:
For a UDFA to come in and not only make plays, but also make them in preseason and get Dak's vote of confidence, you must be doing a lot right, and Brown certainly is.
Likely to be right on the roster bubble, right now, you struggle to see how he can be left off the team.
Tyler Guyton:
One player that Cowboys Nation will be happy to see finally showing something. Guyton has liked his offseason, and he's happy he's made it through camp healthy.
Easily won the battle with Nate Thomas, although I doubt it was an "actual" battle.
Dak's blindside, right now, looks solid.
Jonathan Mingo:
Another receiver who has had a great camp. Mingo has also made plays on special teams, and it is likely down to him and Brown for the WR5 spot, so look to the Cowboys' preseason games to be a deciding factor.
Javonte Williams:
The starting back for Schottenheimer, Williams, has had a perhaps underrated camp, making plays day after day, and similar to last offseason, he won't be seen in preseason games.
Bryan Anger:
Dallas' punter? Yep, you read that right: Schottenheimer has loved what he's seen from Anger in Oxnard.
"However old he is, he just hit a couple 75-yard punts, but it's been a great camp," Schottenheimer said.
Ryan Flournoy:
It has been an offseason of opportunity for Flo, and he's taken it with both hands, regularly making plays with Prescott in the passing game, including several touchdowns.
Like Williams, he won't be seen in preseason, quite frankly, because we don't need to see him, which is a big feather in his cap.
