Dak Prescott played at an elite level against the Chiefs, and his head coach knows what a special player he is.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott continued his superb season on Thursday, leading his team to a monumental 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving. ... and followed it up with a trot down the tunnel and into the locker room with a message for Cowboys Nation.

    "Turkey for everyone!'' he screamed.

In what was a day of celebration, Dak threw an interception on the first drive of the game. But he marched right back on the next possession, orchestrating a 15-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, converting three third downs all to CeeDee Lamb in the process, which included the touchdown.

Then in the third quarter, after Patrick Mahomes drove the field to take a 21-20 lead after a touchdown drive, Dak came straight back and went 68 yards in 13 plays that ended in a Javonte Williams touchdown before finding George Pickens on a two-point conversion.

    But Dak wasn't done.

The defense forced a Chiefs punt, and on the first play of the ensuing drive, Prescott hit CeeDee Lamb, who caught that [expletive] ball for a monster 51-yard gain as Dallas started from its own 10-yard line, to help set up a Brandon Aubrey field goal.

If that wasn't enough, Dak ended the game with a 14-play, 22-yard drive to take all the time off the clock and hand the Cowboys their sixth win.

And yeah, head coach Brian Schottenheimer was full of praise for No. 4.

“I thought he was incredible,” Schotty said. “I mean, throw an interception ... They go two plays and score a touchdown, we never panic. We're not going to panic. This team, why would we panic? We've got all the confidence in the world in one another.''

The coach cited another play when there was a "headset malfunction,'' so he couldn't hear the coach's instructions.

"I think the epitome of Dak, which shows what Dak is, we had a little bit of headset malfunction, just Dak and I being tied together, he ran over, I really said two words. He knew the play, and he went out and executed.

"That's the veteran quarterback. The savvy, the leadership, and this was just great performance by him.”

So, surely Dak - who came into the game ranked in the NFL's top three in completions, yards and TDs - is now back in the MVP conversation for the year he is having, right?

Defeating both Super Bowl teams from a season ago in two weeks is an accomplishment, and one could argue that Dak is playing the best football of his career.

Yes, playoffs are still unlikely, but in this brutal three-game gauntlet we've written so much about, Prescott has the Cowboys 2-0 with a trip the Detroit Lions to come.

Oh, and there is a flip side to Schotty's take on leadership.

Said Dak on Schottenheimer: “He’s a hell of a leader. He’s the right guy for the job. We’re all following him.”

This season has life, folks, in big part to Prescott and Schottenheimer not blinking in the face of back-to-back season-defining games.

So ... "Turkey for everyone,'' indeed.
