Jerry Jones’ weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan on September 9, 2025 delivered the usual blend of transparency and shock value. Here are the boldest statements from the Cowboys owner and GM:

“Pleased” Despite the Loss

Jones described his mindset following Dallas' 24–20 Week 1 defeat as “pleased,” even though the result stung. He praised quarterback Dak Prescott’s performance as one of his best and applauded the offensive line for its execution, stressing it gives the team a strong foundation moving forward.

He was also asked about the CeeDee Lamb drops and mentioned he looks at individual plays and not the overall. He knows that Lamb can catch the ball because he has never given us reason to believe he can’t. Jones essentially said, “film don’t lie." Take that for what you will because the Lamb drop at the end of the fourth quarter with the game on the line is also on film.

No Counter to Eagles' Micah Parsons Offer

Addressing trade rumors surrounding Micah Parsons, Jones revealed the Philadelphia Eagles made an offer, but the Cowboys ultimately made “no counteroffer.” You have to respect the fact that the rivalry runs so deep that Jones wasn’t even interested in entertaining it.

Once the decision to entertain trade inquiries was made, everything happened almost immediately and Parsons was ultimately traded to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.

Offensive Line & Prescott Receive High Grades

Using internal metrics, Jones ranked Prescott and new defensive tackle Kenny Clark at the top of the performance scale for Week 1. He also stressed his confidence in head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who he said earned an “A” for strategy and preparation in his debut.

Inactives Snapshot: Jaydon Blue & Mazi Smith

When asked about rookie RB Jaydon Blue and first-round DT Mazi Smith, Jones indicated that Smith would remain inactive due to inconsistent play. He did, however, mention that Blue, who was inactive in Week 1,  “may” be activated this week if he continues improving. Blue is a rookie, so all you can really ask for is week-over-week improvement, and it seems like so far, in the eyes of Jones, this is being done.

Closing Thoughts

This week’s interview showcased Jones’ blend of defiance and optimism. He certainly is a character. He is unshaken by early setbacks, transparent about team decisions, and open to giving fresh talent a chance. Still, his refusal to revisit the Parsons-to-Packers trade and his confidence in Schottenheimer signal a front office that’s doubling down on its direction time will only tell if that is for the better or the worse.
