Williams was superb in 2025 and got rewarded with a new contract, but he still feels the need to prove himself again.
One of the biggest surprises for the Dallas Cowboys last year, outside of George Pickens, was the season Javonte Williams had.
Posting 1,201 yards and 11 TDs, Williams was one of the driving forces behind Dallas having a top-10 run game.
Coming into the season with so many questions over his ability and whether he had enough juice in the tank, it was evident early that Javonte still had plenty.
And this offseason, Dallas thought so too, signing him to a three-year, $24 million deal.
But as Williams gears up for another year in Dallas, he still feels the exact same way as he did a year ago.
"Just another chip on my shoulder," Williams said. "I got to go out and prove myself all over again. Last year was what it was, but it's a whole new year."
A whole new year indeed, and this time around, it feels like Williams' supporting cast is far better as well.
Jaydon Blue appears to have improved, so too Phil Mafah, while "holiday killer" as Brian Schottenheimer calls him, Malik Davis is still hanging around.
And Williams knows that each player in the room has their own strengths they can bring to the rushing attack
"I love everybody in the group," he added. "I feel like everybody brings something different to the table. I feel like everybody in the room could be a starter on any team that they play for. Just the competition that we got in that room, it's just going to make all of us better."
Of course, the name that most of us are watching is Blue, and as training camp got underway in Oxnard, Blue certainly made some waves.
His 45-yard touchdown in practice made the entire fan base take notice.
But for Williams, as he works with Blue daily, what is the difference in the former Texas Longhorn now, compared to last season?
"Just his confidence," Williams said. "Everything that he's doing on the field is just showing how hard he worked in the offseason. I'm glad to see him making plays."
So, for the second consecutive season, the Cowboys don't have a running back problem, and with Williams still carrying a chip after what he produced last season and Blue seemingly making the improvements needed, maybe this run game can go up a notch in 2026.
