The Dallas Cowboys' 2025 season is going to be one fans will forget in a hurry, mostly due to the 7-9-1 record and no playoffs.
But what will stick out is the performance of Dak Prescott and the offense in Brian Schottenheimer's first year.
Dallas had a top offense, with Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Javonte Williams, and touchdown machine Jake Ferguson all playing their part.
But most of the time, the offense's play was wasted due to Matt Eberflus' defense.
Nine times, the unit allowed 30+ points in a game, as the defense struggled to keep teams in check.
That was on the field.
Off the field, the Marshawn Kneeland tragedy was a tough thing to go through for the organization.
And for Dak, he gave his overall thoughts on the 2025 season while at the Pro Bowl Games.
"Very up and down year, dealt with a lot of things off the field as well as on the field, got some wins, got a win streak going, had a losing streak going," Prescott said on Sirius XM radio. "A lot of success individually for myself, for the offense, but we didn't play complementary enough for our defense. Wasn't as successful as we wanted."
Ah, hang on, Dak.
Most of Cowboys Nation would say that, for the most part, the offense did its job; it was the defense that didn't play complementary football.
Yes, there were the second-half fade-outs with touchdowns not scored in three straight games before Joe Milton managed one in Week 18, but the damage was done earlier in the season.
There's plenty of blame to go around for why the Cowboys failed in 2025, and you can point to any number of things as a reason why things didn't work out, but not much can be placed on the offense.
At times, yes, but overall, the offense held up its end of the bargain.
But in true Prescott fashion, he's not throwing anyone under the bus; he's taking accountability for the 7-9-1 record, even when you could make the case that the Cowboys managed to get seven wins mainly due to Dak and his offensive weapons.
