There are a couple of candidates, but I've got my eye on just one.
The Dallas Cowboys' offseason is officially underway, with voluntary OTAs now underway at The Star.
There are a number of players who look set to catch the eye, with second-year back Jaydon Blue, Caleb Downs and the other rookies in the class set to capture our attention.
For rookies taken in the latter stages of the draft, and those who went undrafted, the task of making an impact is a tough one.
However, there are some undrafted free agents who could be in line to make some waves at The Star and then in Oxnard for training camp.
Michael Trigg, DJ Rogers, Jordan Hudson, Camden Brown, Dominic Richardson, Sidney Fugar, Shiyazh Pete, D.J. Wingfield, Romello Brinson, Kelvin Gilliam, Tommy Dunn Jr., D.J. Withers, and Langston Patterson are the undrafted players set to be put through their paces.
But who from that group could make waves as OTAs begin?
I'm going with Trigg.
The Cowboys' tight end room consists of Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker, and you can make the case that none are the sort of receiver Trigg is.
Granted, Trigg doesn't have the blocking chops of those three tight ends mentioned, either.
We know how much Dak Prescott and Ferguson love connecting on their famous seam routes, but we have hardly seen that over the past 18 months. That's where Trigg excels.
Plus, due to his size, he's a red zone matchup nightmare, not to mention his speed and ability to pick up yards after the catch.
If Trigg is to make his mark on Brian Schottenheimer's offense, he's going to have to seriously improve the blocking aspect of his game, as several draft and scouting experts say it leaves a lot to be desired.
But like Schoonmaker, who was drafted to be a blocking tight end, it might work with Trigg if he can show improvement in that area over the duration of the offseason.
Now, in all honesty, Trigg, if anything, could land on the practice squad, because he isn't going to overtake Spann-Ford or Schoonmaker in one offseason, is he?
But if he can show his receiver attributes and prove serviceable in the run game as a blocker, Trigg has all the athletic tools to develop into a weapon for Schottenheimer and Dak.
Am I reaching a bit here? Possibly, bit Trigg looms as a fascinating player to watch over the coming months.
