As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for their Week 2 matchup against the New York Giants, there’s intrigue on offense for both clubs. Will an offseason acquisition rebound for the Cowboys? Can a Giants star shake off a Week 1 sophomore slump? Let’s take a look.

George Pickens, WR, Cowboys

George Pickens was uninspiring in his Dallas debut, registering a mere three catches for 30 yards on four targets. With CeeDee Lamb sure to be the main focus of the New York secondary, Pickens should be able to take advantage of what was a shaky position group in Week 1.

Not a single Giants starting defensive back received a PFF grade higher than 57.1, with corner Cor’Dale Flott being the proverbial fastest turtle, i.e. the best of a bad bunch. As Lamb draws a large amount attention on one side, Pickens should be able to have his first impact game with his new team.

Tyler Guyton, LT, Cowboys

If there’s one strong positional group on New York's roster, it’s their defensive line. Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux create a formidable pass rushing trio.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, the one major offensive weak link happens to be the player tasked with keeping that trio away from Dak Prescott’s blindside. As we covered in our top and worst PFF graded players from Week 1 article, Tyler Guyton finished with an abysmal pass blocking grade of 26.1.

Meanwhile, the lowest graded starting defensive lineman for the Giants was Thibodeaux with a grade of 67.9 Suffice it to say, if Dallas plans on airing it out again this week, then Guyton will have to take a massive leap forward.

Malik Nabers, WR, Giants

Nabers had a fantastic rookie season finishing with 1,204 yards and being named an All Pro. So while his Week 1 line of five catches for 71 yards was solid, it was hardly the type of opening salvo he wanted for his sophomore season.

Going into Week 2, he’ll spar with a Cowboys secondary that limited Eagles wide receivers DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown to a combined four catches for 24 yards. That group will be eager to show that it wasn’t an anomaly, while Nabers will surely be hungry to prove that he’s an unstoppable force going against a very movable object.

Russell Wilson QB, Giants

Wilson wasted no time in getting the dreaded vote of confidence from his head coach as Brian Daboll told reporters earlier in the week that Wilson would be starting against the Cowboys. That was in question due to his uninspiring line of 17-for-37 for 169 yards and no touchdowns.

Whether or not Russ will be able to cook something up will likely be the lynchpin of this matchup. If he can’t Nabers will likely struggle again, and there’s a strong possibility someone else might finish the game under center for the Giants.
