The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly monitoring Tyreek Hill as he recovers from a major knee injury he suffered in 2025.

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly monitoring former Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Hill, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2025, could be headed back to where he started his NFL career.

The Dolphins decided to cut ties with the All-Pro wide receiver last Monday. The move was made to save $22.8 million in cap space. The 32-year-old sent this heartfelt message to fans on his personal Instagram.

"The Journey Don’t Stop✌🏿

"From the bottom of my heart, Thank You To the entire @miamidolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most importantly Fins Nation, for an unforgettable 4 years.

"From the moment I landed in Miami, I felt the Love. You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. These past few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career. "

Hill initially signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Dolphins after they acquired him via trade in March 2022. In 2024, the Dolphins restructured his contract to $90 million in new money over three years.

The former fifth-round pick is free for the taking now, and the Chiefs are among the favorites to land him.

Per ESPN's Nate Taylor, the Chiefs are "monitoring" the recovery for Hill.

"While it's uncertain if Hill will be available for the season opener, the Chiefs are expected to monitor the progress of his recovery and training, according to league sources," Taylor said.

Last week, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke on the possibility of landing Hill, but was noncommittal on it happening.

"I don't know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything. I'm sure he's working hard on that part of it to get that straightened out," Reid said

The Chiefs' passing game has not been the same since they traded away their star wide receiver after the 2021 season. Kansas City focused more on depth and relied heavily on star tight end Travis Kelce.

In the wide receiver area, the Chiefs developed a more "by committee" approach and did their part in adding players who could take the load off Kelce. Players like Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice have shown Tyreek-like flashes, with Rice being the best of the two.

However, off-field issues and injuries have certainly put the Chiefs in a rough position when it comes to Rice.

Although Hill may not be the same player he was when he was in Kansas City, he can still be productive. His last elite season came in 2023, where he racked up a career high 1,799 receiving yards along with 119 receptions, 13 touchdowns, and averaged 112.4 yards per game.

Last season, Hill played in only four games before suffering the injury. The Dolphins are heading in a new direction, and the Chiefs are looking to take advantage of that by adding back their former star receiver.
