Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer and running back De'Von Achane have made a top 100 players list.
The NFL top player list is being unveiled, but other analysts and pundits will release their own version. That is what happened with Pete Prisco, who broke down his own top 100 list and added two Miami Dolphins players.
Center Aaron Brewer and running back De'Von Achane are both on the list, and rightfully so.
Aaron Brewer - No. 31
Brewer has established himself as one of the best centers and offensive linemen in the league. After landing the top rating on Pro Football Focus, he was also given a new contract.
"His improvement over the past two seasons has been impressive. After signing with Miami as a free agent, he has developed into one of the league's best centers, which is why the team gave him a fat contract earlier this month," Prisco said.
Brewer's journey has been interesting, but it wasn't until he arrived in Miami that his prowess as a lineman was showcased fully. He was up for Protector of the Year, which is a newly added yearly award recognizing offensive linemen, and many believed he should have won.
The Dolphins referred to him as a "pillar" of the team, and they made good on their word, handing him a three-year, $52.5 million extension. This is an annual amount of $17.5 million, and makes him the third-highest-paid center in the league.
De'Von Achane - No. 44
Similar to Brewer, Achane was labeled as a "pillar" and received his own contract. Miami understands what its young core means, and they locked up their dual-threat running back for multiple years.
"He had 1,350 rushing yards in 13 games with eight rushing touchdowns. He also had 67 catches and four receiving touchdowns. He is a home-run threat every time he touches the ball," Prisco said.
Achane picked up 1,838 and 12 touchdowns from scrimmage, and led the NFL with 5.7 yards per carry. He turned his performance into a four-year, $64 million extension that locks him up for the foreseeable future.
Dolphins Star Player Omitted
Every top 100 list is subjective, but there is a glaring omission from Prisco's list. Oddly enough, he did not offer any recognition for linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
Brooks led the league with 183 total tackles, 99 of which were his own and also led the league. On top of that, he brought in 3.5 sacks.
Brooks was oddly left out of the Pro Bowl, but was named a First-team All-Pro. He is one of the other pillars mentioned by general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, who has not received a new deal.
The Dolphins linebacker is poised for another strong season and may just land a spot on the player-voted top 100 NFL list instead.
