Miami Dolphins defensive leader Jordyn Brooks has exited the Cincinnati Bengals matchup with a foot injury.
Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks has suffered an injury in the Cincinnati Bengals matchup.
During a run play from the Bengals, Brooks remained on the turf after the play was blown dead. He appeared to be grabbing at his foot. It was not immediately known what occurred, but there was a game stoppage.
Per the Dolphins' official social media, Brooks is now questionable to return with a foot injury.
Following multiple moments being attended to by trainers, Brooks was seen walking gingerly to the sideline. Getting up and walking off on his own power is a good sign.
Brooks was seen being taken to the locker room to get checked out. The best-case scenario for the Dolphins is the defensive leader simply suffered a stinger.
Brooks has been one of the strongest tacklers in the NFL and led the league with 183 total tackles during the 2025 season. In 2026, he is tied for 12th with 35 total tackles. This figure does not include Week 5, which has started.
With Brooks heading to the locker room, Willis Gay Jr. has now taken over linebacker duties alongside rookie Jacob Rodriguez.
Miami has been keeping pace with the Bengals through one quarter, but losing a talent like Brooks could certainly impact their ability to stop quarterback Joe Burrow and company.
At the time of this writing, Cincinnati just scored their second touchdown, and they lead 14-7.
The Bengals had already been marching down the field when the Brooks injury occurred. Burrow was able to dish the ball to running back Samaje Perine for the score.
Miami will need to get past this Brooks injury to ensure the middle of the field does not continue to be a pain point.
Rodriguez is responsible in part for coverage there, and the Bengals scored in the first quarter with a toss over the middle to former Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki.
The Miami offense has also been struggling, and it will be up to Malik Willis to figure out a way to get his chemistry going with his receivers. The run game has been strong with Ollie Gordon II, but the passing game has struggled completely.
Willis will need to figure out some dink-and-dunk opportunities to get the chains moving and potentially finish drives with Gordon's tough running.
More information about Brooks will be released soon, especially if he is not able to return to the game due to his foot injury.
