The Miami Dolphins have officially locked up running back De'Von Achane to a four-year extension.

After being told for weeks and months by general manager Jon Eric Sullivan that the Miami Dolphins viewed running back De'Von Achane as an integral part of the team moving forward, the organization has agreed to a massive new deal with the Pro Bowler.

Per multiple reports, Achane and the Dolphins have reached agreement on a four-year, $68 million deal that will pay the back $17 million per season, skyrocketing him to being the third-highest-paid running back in the league.

The deal also reportedly includes $32 million guaranteed. Both the APY and guarantees are now a record for a player coming off a rookie contract, as Jordan Schultz indicated in his post.

Achane has been on a massive trajectory since entering the league in 2023. During his rookie season, the Dolphins back brought in 997 and 11 touchdowns from scrimmage. This includes 800 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with a staggering 7.8 yards per carry average.

Unfortunately, Achane would suffer an MCL sprain that would sideline him for multiple games, affecting his production.

The back would bounce back in a big way in 2024, bringing in 1,499 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns. Achane continued to showcase how effective he was as a running back and dual-threat pass catcher.

In 2025, Achane impressed even more with 1,838 yards and 12 touchdowns from scrimmage. He secured 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with a league-leading 5.7 yards per carry.

During the Dolphins' rebuild in the 2026 offseason, many reports indicated he could be on the trade block, as it had previously been stated wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was also a foundational piece. Miami sent him to the Denver Broncos, leaving may to think the running back could be next.

That was not the case and Sullivan said many times over that he had no interest in trading Achane. That has now been proven true with the running back getting a massive new extension that will tie him to the organization through the 2030 season.

The Dolphins are expecting to be a very run-heavy offense in 2026, and Achane is clearly the main focus of the team's offensive prowess. After upgrading the offensive line in the draft, and with the new coaching staff in place, the young back could explode even more.
