The Miami Dolphins coaching staff is starting to take shape, as the team has reportedly hired wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert.

On the heels of the Miami Dolphins promoting Bobby Slowik to offensive coordinator, the team is also rounding out some more offensive coaching staff.

Per NFL insider Cameron Wolfe, the Dolphins have reportedly hired longtime wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert.

"Dolphins are hiring Tyke Tolbert as their new WR coach, per source.

"Tolbert has over 20 years of NFL coach experience. He spent the last 2 seasons as Titans WR coach."

Tolbert spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons in the same capacity with the Tennessee Titans. Now, he joins Slowik as the latest offensive coach hired to serve under new head coach Jeff Hafley.

Tolbert has over 20 years of experience as a coach, initially beginning his journey as a graduate assistant with LSU in 1994. He would remain at the collegiate level, bouncing between being a tight ends coach and wide receivers coach for programs such as Ohio, Auburn, Florida, and eventually moving to the NFL in 2003.

After nearly 10 years at the collegiate level, Tolbert joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2003 as a wide receivers coach, eventually moving to the Buffalo Bills in the same role from 2004 to 2009.

After the Bills, Tolbert would join the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and finally the Titans, for the past two seasons. Now, he joins the Dolphins with the chance to mentor Jaylen Waddle, and potentially Tyreek Hill if he returns.

Hafley is getting plenty busy adding coaches to his staff, as Slowik was promoted to offensive coordinator, Chris Tabor was named special teams coordinator after serving in that same role with the Buffalo Bills in 2025, and now Tolbert is joining the staff.

The last remaining coordinator position is defensive coordinator, which has not been filled just yet. Hafley indicated he would call plays on defense, so it may take a little more time for him to find the right defensive mind to serve as his second-in-command on that side of the ball.

The Dolphins, like many other teams with a new head coach, are ramping up efforts to put together their coaching staff. The idea is likely to be ready by the time the Senior Bowl happens, so the staff can work in tandem with general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan to evaluate players to be added in the draft.

Now, Tolbert joins this new era of Dolphins football under Hafley.
