Dolphins inactives list has multiple starters ruled out for finale vs Patriots cover image

The Miami Dolphins have ruled out multiple starters ahead of their matchup with the New England Patriots.

It was already reported that the Miami Dolphins were not going to have running back De'Von Achane and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Now, the full inactive list has been released, which contains multiple starters being ruled out.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is inactive but set as the team's third emergency quarterback. Fellow quarterback Cam Miller was also made inactive after the Dolphins recently signed him to the roster.

As mentioned above, Waddle and Achane are both out. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will also not return to action, which was expected.

Linebacker Chop Robinson was questionable to play, but he has been ruled out, as has offensive lineman Austin Jackson.

Jackson has been dealing with a back and groin issue, which has now sidelined him for the finale. Robinson has been in concussion protocol, and he clearly did not clear the protocols that would have allowed him to play.

The good news for the inactives list is that it provides the final status for multiple other questionable players.

For starters, linebacker Jordyn Brooks is active. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury, but he will suit up. This could mean he will retain the tackle title in 2025.

Additionally, fellow linebacker Quinton Bell is active, as he appeared on the injury report with an illness on Friday.

Aaron Brewer is also active, after a neck injury saw him miss Week 17. With Andrew Meyer having played center in Week 17 with Brewer out, it will be interesting to see if he moves to another position on the line.

Jason Sanders was also previously ruled out, and it could be his final time playing with the Dolphins. Riley Patterson has been fantastic, and he is close to breaking Sanders' accuracy record in field goal percentage.

The Dolphins offense will take a big hit with both Achane and Waddle out, but the team will rely on Jaylen Wright and Jeff Wilson Jr. to get things going on the ground. Theo Wease Jr. will also get a chance to impress again.

The finale will be the third start for rookie Quinn Ewers, and he has also developed some good chemistry with tight end Greg Dulcich. The pair could establish their chances for more action in 2026 with impressive performances in the regular season finale.
