Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley has ruled out wide receiver Caleb Douglas and offered updates on multiple key players.
The Miami Dolphins are gearing up to face the Minnesota Vikings, but they will do so without the help of rookie wideout Caleb Douglas. Ahead of the team's final injury report, head coach Jeff Hafley ruled out the receiver.
Douglas suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, and he has not yet been able to work his way back to action. Joining Douglas as out is edge Robert Beal Jr.
Hafley took the podium on Friday to detail more injury updates from key players, including offering an update on cornerback Storm Duck, and center Aaron Brewer.
Brewer appeared on the injury report with a hand ailment and went from a full participant to limited on Thursday. Despite being downgraded, Hafley stated that the center's injury is nothing to worry about.
"There's nothing there. He obviously there is something there, but he's going to practice today and he's going to he's going to play in the game. I'm not concerned about him playing in the game, just to be very clear, there," Hafley said.
Following the update on Brewer, Hafley ruled out Douglas and Beal and then offered a bigger update on Duck.
Duck is currently working his way back from a knee injury that has kept him out of the regular season thus far, but he appeared on the injury report with an Achilles situation as well.
Hafley stated that the Achilles is nothing, but Duck will also not be ready to play in Week 4.
Additionally, running back Jaylen Wright will be "ready to go" for Week 4. Wright suffered a stinger and foot injury in Week 2 that kept him out for Week 3, but the back said that he was close to coming back against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Now, Wright will presumably be the lead back in the Vikings matchup, which is perfect timing considering the Dolphins lost De'Von Achane for the remainder of the season to a torn ACL.
Another name that was brought up is defensive lineman Kenneth Grant, who is also working his way back from injury.
Hafley said the defensive tackle is getting "impatient" about now being on the field, but that he will return "sooner rather than later."
Grant suffered a reported lower-body injury that led to him being added to the IR (injured reserve) list to start the season, and it appears that he is working his way back to action.
Considering Duck is doing the same, both might be ready to play soon. The Dolphins may be aiming for both to be back after the Week 6 BYE, but this is just speculation.
Miami is starting to show some promise, and the team may be getting back some of its key players. How soon remains to be seen, but Hafley hinted that both would be back soon.
