Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley is not sure how severe the injury to rookie receiver Caleb Douglas is.

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley spoke to the media on Monday to break down the team's Week 2 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. In his updates, he revealed that he is unsure just how serious the injury to rookie receiver Caleb Douglas is.

Douglas has been a strong player on the Miami offense thus far, as he produced 94 yards in Week 1 on five receptions. After being utilized in run-blocking schemes, he suffered an unfortunate injury in Week 2.

The Dolphins struggled to get anything going offensively against the 49ers, minus the run game. That may have been why the team was attempting to get more action on the ground with running back De'Von Achane.

Achane picked up 74 yards on the ground, which was far more than the 36 he picked up against the Las Vegas Raiders.

With Douglas helping with run blocking, his leg was rolled on during a play, leading to him having to exit the game. Initially, things did not seem that serious, but the rookie was seen in a walking boot following the game.

Now, Hafley revealed that he is unsure just how serious the injury is.

"I think it's too early to tell. I'm really not sure yet. We'll see how that goes," Hafley said of Douglas.

Losing Douglas would be a big hit to an already thinned-out room. Currently Miami is utilizing Douglas, Malik Washington, and fellow rookie Chris Bell as the starting three receivers. All three have not quite developed strong chemistry with quarterback Malik Willis.

This would presumably open the door for Jalen Tolbert to be more involved, as he has not yet been made active for a regular season game.

Additonal Dolphins Injury Updates

Hafley also revealed some more injury updates on players.

Edge Chop Robinson was ruled out for Week 2 after suffering a concussion in practice the Wednesday before the game.

Hafley said "he's made progress," and seemed to indicate that Robinson should be in a much better place come Wednesday, when the first injury report is due.

Additionally, running back Jaylen Wright seemed to suffer an injury late in the 49ers game, and was also pulled. Hafley called him "day-to-day," and the injury reports will presumably reveal more about his status as well.

The Dolphins are heading into Week 3 without a win under their belt thus far.

Hafley's defense has also surrendered 65 points to both opponents, which needs to be addressed and corrected. Miami has shown some positives, but right now the team remains a big concern heading into their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
