Miami Dolphins All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks has made his debut on the NFL Top 100 Players list.
On the heels of his first All-Pro season, Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks has now made his debut on the NFL Top 100 Players list. The list is compiled from votes by current players and fashioned into a grand list ranking the top 100 players of the previous season.
Brooks led the league with 183 total tackles and became a force on the Dolphins' defense. Despite a mostly quiet nature, the defender uses his voice through his performance on the field.
One of the major offseason questions for the Dolphins is whether or not they will offer Brooks a multi-year extension. He was named one of the "pillars" of the team by general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, but a new deal has yet to materialize.
Brooks has also become a leader on the team and in the linebacker room, and has since taken rookie Jacob Rodriguez under his wing. A recent BTS video showed the rookie's journey to the NFL, and how the pair have created a strong relationship.
That, and both Brooks and Rodriguez have been talking to and learning from Hall of Famer Dolphins linebacker, Zach Thomas. All three are alumni of Texas Tech and have had eerily similar NFL journeys.
Brooks is also the first Dolphins linebacker to lead the NFL in tackles since Thomas did so back in 2006.
On top of securing 183 total tackles, Brooks brought in 3.5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss. His 92.0 run-defense grade from Pro Football Focus ranked third among qualifying linebackers, making him one of the most well-rounded players at his position.
Brooks has the kind of work ethic that can be engrained in this new-look Miami team. It will just be up to the front office to hammer out a deal before the start of the regular season.
With training camp approaching, that would also be the perfect time to get a deal done, so not to cause any sort of distractions or rifts beween Brooks and the team. There are no inklings that he would hold out, but that is the usual case for high performers who don't receive deals.
Either way, Brooks has become one of the better Dolphins players and a veteran that can be an anchor on this rebuild.
