The Miami Dolphins have made multiple roster moves and announced that offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer was placed on the season-ending IR.

UPDATE:

Quarterback Quinn Ewers is dealing with multiple injuries, one of which is a groin ailment that he sustained during the preseason opener.

The Miami Dolphins have announced multiple roster moves following their first preseason game of the 2026 season.

Among the moves is the announcement that backup offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Salyer was viewed as a player who could push for a starting position, but his versatility to move in on multiple positions is a steep loss.

Additionally, the Dolphins also announced that cornerback Ethan Robinson was waived with an injury settlement.

The two additions for the team are inside linebacker Cam Riley and the return of quarterback Mark Gronowski.

Gronowski had just been waived on Aug. 7, but he now rejoins the quarterback room. The undrafted free agent's return to the Dolphins is very interesting, as head coach Jeff Hafley had just stated he was unsure what the team would do at the quarterback position following the struggles of both Quinn Ewers and Cam Miller.

Ewers finished his preseason outing going 1-for-8, 27 yards, and one interception.

Miller did not fare any better, as he went 3-for-11, 39 yards, and two interceptions.

Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and Hafley clearly did not like what they saw, as they brought back Gronowski to compete again. Though he may be there for the third-string opportunity, Miami may need to explore some veteran options before the start of the regular season.

Hafley did state that Ewers' struggles were not exactly what they seemed to be following a view of the tape. Still, there needs to be a strong option behind Malik Willis, in case anything happens during the season.

Riley spent the 2025 season with the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans after going undrafted. During college, the linebacker spent four years with Auburn before playing his final year with Florida State in 2024.

Riley finished his collegiate career playing in 60 games, with 167 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and three passes defended.

With the second preseason game this week, the Dolphins will continue to evaluate the roster. Considering the moves that Sullivan and Hafley have made this offseason and beyond, it is believed they will continue to bring in players.

The backup quarterback position will be one of the most important to lock down. As stated, Ewers may have received some grace from Hafley, but the team may explore veteran options if the second-year passer struggles again in the second preseason matchup.
