A look at where the Miami Dolphins sit in the power rankings following their Week 5 loss.
The Miami Dolphins are now 0-5 this season, and things are looking a bit dire. The team is now heading into a Week 6 bye, where they can recalibrate and attempt to turn things around.
Despite their winless start, the Dolphins are not viewed as the worst team in the league by every single corner of the NFL world.
That said, here is where Miami current sits in the Week 6 power rankings.
NFL.com - No. 29
NFL.com still sees the Dolphins sitting at No. 29. While the team has no wins, they are not viewed as being lower than the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, and Tennessee Titans.
This power ranking also points to the prowess of Ollie Gordon II, who has emerged as a strong lead back for the offense now that De'Von Achane will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
Rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is also viewed as the leading Defensive Rookie of the Year. In terms of wins, the Dolphins are also predicted to get one eventually.
ESPN - No. 32
ESPN still views Miami as the worst team in the league. A major reason for this is the lack of pass rush. Despite Chop Robinson and company getting to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray four times, there is not enough that has happened in five weeks.
The Dolphins are actually not that bad when it comes to overall defense. It is more so the offense and struggles of Malik Willis that appear to be holding the team back from notching their first win.
Yahoo! Sports - No. 32
Yahoo! Sports also views the Dolphins as the bottom-dwellers of the NFL. Despite being within one touchdown of beating the Cincinnati Bengals, it was trailing 28-10 through three quarters that this power rankings pointed to.
Miami has not secured or sustained a lead in any game this season, which points to some major growth needing to happen. This bye week will need to be used
The Athletic - No. 31
The Athletic does see the Dolphins as one of the worst, but not the worst. That place is saved for the Titans.
The power rankings point to what head coach Jeff Hafley and the players have said at every turn, which is the team is showing fight. The issue is that fight has not yet led to a win.
Miami has come close twice in the past two weeks, but there are no moral victories in the NFL. If the Dolphins end the season 0-17, there could be a strong case to be made that they will look to the draft to bring in their quarterback of the future.
