Miami Dolphins rookie starter Trey Moore has been injured in the second preseason game.
The Miami Dolphins have started their second preseason game, and they are already dealing with what appears to be a very significant injury.
Rookie linebacker Trey Moore tackled New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston and fell to the turf. He looked to be in clear pain, as trainers rushed out to attend to him.
Following the injury incident, Moore appeared not to be able to put weight on his left leg and had to be assisted by trainers. His day is likely done.
After Moore was shown being attended to, additional videos showed the rookie linebacker being taken to the locker room on a cart.
Moore will assuredly get tests done to determine the extent of the injury, but having to be helped off by trainers and not being able to put weight on a leg is never a good sign. Then the Dolphins could get some good news regarding the injury being something that is not super long-term, but that will not be determined until the linebacker gets some tests done.
Losing Moore would be a big blow to the Dolphins' defense, as the rookie linebacker has been slated to be the projected strong-side starter since OTAs. That trend continued through minicamp and into training camp and preseason.
Moore had been heavily involved in the first preseason outing against the Washington Commanders, playing in 48 snaps. He figured to be a big part of the plan for the second preseason game, but has now been injured.
Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley had indicated that players should be ready to play, but not that starters would necessarily be out for the game. That was the case, as many starters did not take the field, including quarterback Malik Willis, linebacker Jordyn Brooks, and many more.
Moore may have been out on the field to get even more snaps in to prepare for the regular season, but has gone back to the locker room.
Hafley will offer more updates on the injury likely after the game, or tomorrow morning, but he may not reveal what the injury is. The Dolphins head coach does not often say what injuries are, but instead reveals only a injury return timeline.
