The Miami Dolphins have re-signed linebacker and special team ace Cameron Goode.
The Miami Dolphins may not have a ton of cap to work with, but that does not mean the team will not be able to land any players or re-sign contributors that are pending free agents.
Re-signing contributors at lower prices might also help stabilize the roster for the 2027 season. With that in mind, the Dolphins have brought back special teams ace, linebacker Cameron Goode.
Details on the contract amount have not been revealed, but he made just over the vet minimum of $1 million in 2025, and that figure could be similar to what he has re-signed for.
Goode was initially drafted by the Dolphins in 2022 in the seventh round. He would spend the first few seasons of his career being promoted to the active roster, cut, and sent to the practice squad.
The linebacker appeared in all 17 games in 2023 and 2025. He missed the majority of the 2024 season due to a knee injury suffered in the finale of the 2023 season.
Goode has been mostly utilized on special teams, and it stands to reason he will keep the same role for the 2026 season.
The young linebacker is the second pending free agent the Dolphins have brought back, which includes tendering exclusive free agent rights on cornerback Ethan Bonner.
With free agency a week away, expect the Dolphins to engage more in low-cost, high-reward deals.
Currently, Miami has less than $1 million in cap space, per overthecap.com. That figure is likely to change with more cuts and potential trades.
The Dolphins have been seeking a trade partner for Minkah Fitzpatrick, and should find a spot for the All-Pro safety. Also, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has not yet announced formally if Bradley Chubb will be a post-June 1 cut, which will also aid the cap situation.
The 2026 season should be one where the Dolphins shed many of their bloated contracts, such as the one from Tua Tagovailoa that has put a financial strain on the team.
Though 2026 is not expected to be a wholly competitive venture with a thinning roster, the Dolphins can rebound in a big way in 2027. Sullivan has preached building through the draft, and that is expected to be the case.
The only big deal that may come to fruition is if Malik Willis lands with the Dolphins, but his predicted contract figures continue to fluctuate in a big way.
