The Miami Dolphins recently signed Texas A&M running back Le'Veon Moss, who is now retiring from the NFL.

The Miami Dolphins brought in 11 UDFAs (undrafted free agents), as they all are attempting to work their way up the roster to land a spot on the 53-man roster, or potentially on the practice squad.

Among those players was Texas A&M running back Le'Veon Moss. Moss was signed on May 8, and is now retiring from the NFL. Per the official Dolphins site and social media, the team officially placed him on the reserve/retired list.

Moss played for Texas A&M from 2022 to 2025, where he secured a total of 1,767 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, along with 236 receiving yards. His most successful season was in 2024 when he brought in 906 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.

No further details have yet been provided on why Moss has decided to walk away from the NFL. More details will be provided once they are released.

Moss may have had a legitimate chance to make the roster as a potential practice squad option, but he will not hang up his cleats instead. The current running backs on the roster include De'Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon II, Donovan Edwards, and Anthony Hankerson.

The top three spots are presumably locked up by Achane, Wright, and Gordon, leaving Edwards as RB4, and Hankerson would have had to compete with Moss for a depth spot, or potentially on the practice squad.

This is just speculation, but the usual case for players retiring early is due to medical issues. That may not be the case with Moss, and nothing along those lines has been confirmed in any manner.

Per the official Dolphins site, Moss was part of an UDFA class that includes:

Center Jim Bonifas, tackle Kevin Cline, quarterback Mark Gronowski, running back Anthony Hankerson, defensive lineman Rene Konga, wide receiver Donaven McCulley, edge Rodney McGraw, safety Louis Moore, Moss, edge Mason Reiger and defensive lineman Kahlil Saunders.
