The Miami Dolphins have released cornerback Storm Duck amid multiple roster moves on Tuesday.
The Miami Dolphins have made several roster moves ahead of their Week 7 matchup with the New York Jets.
Amid those moves was the decision to release cornerback Storm Duck from the PUP list. Duck has not played in the 2026 season, but was set to return after practicing fully over the past two weeks.
Instead of activating the cornerback, he was since been released.
Duck suffered a season-ending knee injury early in the 2025 season, which led to his missing most of the regular season in 2026.
Duck appeared in two games in 2025, with one start. During those two games, he secured two total tackles. The cornerback simply had a rough stretch after being injured, but he can now be claimed by another team.
On top of the release of Duck, the Dolphins also made a sizable change at kicker.
Riley Patterson was released, while former Miami kicker Zane Gonzalez was brought back and signed to the practice squad. Gonzalez suffered an injury in training camp and was released with an injury settlement in August.
Now, Gonzalez appears as the choice for the Dolphins yet again, as he will presumably take over starting duties in Week 7.
Additionally, the team also announced that Rodney McGraw was being signed to the active roster from the practice squad.
McGraw has appeared in two games with Miami and secured five total tackles in that time. Now, the undrafted free agent looks poised for a bigger role in the coming weeks.
The Dolphins are coming off a Week 6 bye and are now looking towards the Jets and the chance to snap their five-game losing skid.
With a renewed energy after a break in the bye week, that may be a possibility.
Multiple players spoke about a renewed focus heading into this week, and time will tell whether the reset will matter for the team. The Jets are a tough divisional rival and sit at 2-4.
While New York has had their own struggles in 2026, they have also had some close losses thus far this season. They are a competitive team that can cause all kinds of problems for the Dolphins.
Miami needs to figure out a way to close out their own games, as they lost by one touchdown to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5, and by five points to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.
The Dolphins have been competitive, but Hafley and company will need to find ways to not fold in the fourth quarter.
