The Miami Dolphins are already working on the roster, as the team has reportedly worked out two defenders, including a former Dallas Cowboys linebacker.
The Miami Dolphins have stayed busy bringing in players through free agency and well into training camp. That may be the case for the team moving forward, as they look to improve the backend of the roster.
Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley spoke about the roster following the team's big loss to the New York Giants, indicating that "details" from the backend players were simply not good enough. That said, the team is already primed to make more moves, as they reportedly worked out two defenders.
One of the defenders is former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Kenneth Murray.
Murray most recently played with the Cowboys during the 2025 season, where he played in 17 games, with 16 starts. During that time, he secured 81 total tackles, one sack, and two passes defended.
Murray also spent time with the Tennessee Titans in 2024, and most of his career was with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2020 to 2023.
In total, Murray has 497 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions, and 10 passes defended.
Additionally, the Dolphins also worked out linebacker Jaheim Thomas.
Thomas most recently played for the UFL as a member of the Louisville Kings. He appeared in 10 regular season games and two playoff games, securing 79 total tackles, one tackle for loss, half a sack, and five pass breakups.
None of the two players have yet to be signed, but the Dolphins brought both in for a workout.
There may also be more players who came in for a workout, but that will not be revealed until the NFL's daily transaction wire comes out later on Monday.
As stated above, the Dolphins have not been shy about adding players, as general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has been plenty busy bringing in potential new talent.
Hafley's comments on the roster were also very obvious in that his disappointment could mean more of the backend of the roster is set to be changed in the coming days.
Miami is also on a deadline like the rest of the 31 teams in the NFL, as the roster must be cut down from 90 to 53 on Aug. 30 by 6 PM EST.
Considering how the backups and roster bubble players performed on Saturday, Hafley and Sullivan might be plenty busy when rosters begin to get cut, as the Dolphins need upgrades at many positions.
The team might also bring in more tryouts ahead of the final preseason game to determine if outside help can be utilized before roster cuts begin.
