Dolphins retain Bobby Slowik, promote him to offensive coordinator cover image

The Miami Dolphins are keeping Bobby Slowik on staff, promoting him from senior pass game coordinator to offensive coordinator.

New Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley is currently in the process of building his coaching staff, and one member was already added in former Buffalo Bills special teams coordinator Chris Tabor.

Tabor will retain the same position on Hafley's staff.

Now, the Dolphins have made a big move within the organization, keeping pass game coordinator Bobby Slowik. Slowik has now been promoted to offensive coordinator under Hafley.

Jordan Schultz reported on the Slowik hire, stating:

"Sources: The #Dolphins are hiring Bobby Slowik as their new OC under HC Jeff Hafley. Slowik, who was once the #Texans OC, spent this last season in Miami with Mike McDaniel and now gets a promotion under the new regime," Pelissero wrote on X.

Slowik had been a hot name in this coaching cycle, drawing interest as an offensive coordinator, and interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles for that position.

Instead of going elsewhere, Slowik remains with the Dolphins organization.

Slowik has over 15 years of experience in coaching within the NFL, first landing a job with the then-Washington Redskins in 2011 as a defensive assistant. He worked his way up to the offensive side of the ball in 2019 with the San Francisco 49ers.

After building his resume as a passing game coordinator, Slowik landed the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator position in 2023 and 2024; from there, he was hired by the Dolphins as their senior pass game coordinator.

Now, Slowik gets a chance to run the Dolphins' offense completely under Hafley.

Hafley has been busy since being formally introduced as the organization's new head coach, hiring Tabor, and now landing Slowik as the team's new offensive coordinator.

The Dolphins also interviewed Eagles defensive line coach Clint Hurtt for their vacant defensive coordinator position, though there has not been movement on a hire in that department just yet.

Hafley indicated in his press conference that he plans to call plays on defense, so the new defensive coordinator will work directly with him on that side of the ball and become his right-hand man for the defense.

The new Dolphins coaching staff is starting to take shape, and keeping Slowik could be a very smart move for Hafley, given his knowledge and familiarity with the current offensive players.

Time will tell if Slowik can command a new offense in 2026, but he gets another chance at being an offensive coordinator in the NFL.
