The Miami Dolphins have hired new head coach Jeff Hafley, the former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator.
With Hafley being introduced, he is likely to get going with building his coaching staff for this new era of Dolphins football. While he may be aiming to bring in his own people, it appears current senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik may be on his way out of the building.
Not every new head coach completely tears down the coaching staff that is present when they are hired. While Hafley may choose to keep some staffers around, it will be his call on who remains.
Fans, pundits, and more have theorized that Slowik may be in line to get promoted to offensive coordinator for the Dolphins, but that would be up to Hafley.
For now, Slowik has garnered interest from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Slowik has interviewed with the Eagles for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
The Eagles fired former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, and they will be in search of their new offensive leader, much like the 10 teams that are hiring and installing new head coaches.
That said, Slowik staying with the Dolphins would also make a lot of sense.
Slowik has over 15 years of coaching experience, first landing a defensive assistant position with the then-Washington Redskins in 2011. He would work his way up as an offensive coach with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017.
After two years as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator in 2023 and 2024, the Dolphins hired him to be senior passing game coordinator. Slowik clearly has the experience to run an offense, and the Eagles may choose to hire him.
Should Hafley want to interview Slowik for the Dolphins' offensive coordinator position, he may have to act fast in case other teams view him as their answer to run an offense.
There is a lot of work to do regarding the coaching staff for the Dolphins, and Hafley's top priority is to get those persons installed so they can all start scouting for the draft and free agency.
For Slowik, he may remain with the Dolphins, but current signs appear to point to him landing a job with a new team in 2026.
