The Miami Dolphins have brought in free agent tackle Gottlieb Ayedze following the release of Kion Smith and Carter Warren.
As has been the case for Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is bringing in another low-cost veteran. This time, the team has signed free agent tackle Gottlieb Ayedze.
This move makes sense considering the team released guard/tackle Kion Smith and Carter Warren, who was waived.
Miami continues to bring in prospects and is likely to do so through training camp and into preseason, should the roster have some depth or competition concerns. Regarding Ayedze, he has spent time on multiple teams' practice squads, but has yet to make a 53-man roster in the NFL.
Ayedze went undrafted in 2024 and joined the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad the same year, followed by a stint with the Las Vegas Raiders.
After being waived by the Raiders in 2025, the tackle would join the DC Defenders for the 2026 season, and was then traded to the Houston Gamblers. Ayedze now joins fellow Gambler Major Burns, who was brought in ahead of the release of the aforementioned tackles.
Depth and competition is always good, and the Dolphins are ensuring they have a full roster ahead of training camp, which should kick off mid to the end of July.
Sullivan has not been coy about bringing in players, and it would not be the least bit shocking for Miami to continue this trend. Tackle depth is also a concern now that two tackles were just released.
Among the depth pieces are Marques Cox, Kevin Cline, and Charlie Heck. Expect the Dolphins to bring in more players in the coming weeks and days.
Though the team is aiming to place Kadyn Proctor in the left guard position, he may be a swing tackle depth piece as well, should Miami have the right pieces in place for the guard position.
There is also the health of Austin Jackson to consider. If he enters training camp or preseason without a clean bill of health, the team will need to pivot to more options.
Ayedze has just as much of a chance to land a rotational spot on the roster as the other depth options. It just depends on where he is in his development.
One place where the Dolphins cannot skimp out is the offensive line, as injuries and struggles on the line have been a common issue for years. However, Patrick Paul, Aaron Brewer, and Proctor could make a solid combination that can anchor the line in a significant way.
Jonah Savaiinaea and Jackson remain the only big questions currently.
