The Miami Dolphins have made multiple roster moves, including bringing in wide receiver Jared Wayne.
The Miami Dolphins are not resting ahead of their Week 6 bye. The team announced a plethora of roster moves on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the team announced that running back Jarquez Hunter was released from the practice squad, and quarterback Brady Cook was brought back.
This is an interesting move considering the Dolphins traded for Hunter and sent wide receiver Tutu Atwell back to the Los Angeles Rams. The running back was cut during the team's 53-man roster finalization, but was added back to the practice squad.
Hunter has now been cut by Miami for the second time.
In addition to the above moves, the Dolphins also announced that they had released former first-round pick defensive lineman Mazi Smith. The team replaced Smith with fellow defensive lineman Jordan Jefferson.
Jefferson has appeared in 10 games since the 2024 season. He has played with the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Jefferson produced two passes defended, one sack, and 12 total tackles during that time. The defensive lineman was most recently on the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad in 2026, but was released on Oct. 6.
Veteran wide receiver Ryan Miller was also waived, and Jared Wayne was claimed off waivers from the Houston Texans.
Miller had established himself as a special teams contributor and was the player who caught Malik Willis' first passing touchdown as a member of the Dolphins.
The release of Miller could point to Caleb Douglas making his return. Douglas has been out for three games due to an ankle injury.
The acquisition of Wayne makes sense considering his ties to offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. The pair worked with one another during the 2024 season.
Wayne has appeared in nine games with the Texans since the 2024 season. He has four starts during that time, three of which came during the 2026 season.
In the three starts and five appearances in 2026, Wayne has secured four receptions for 65 yards.
Miami is 0-5 this season and now have a bye week to replenish and attempt to rebound in a significant way. Head coach Jeff Hafley stated he would evaluate everything across the board to help this team secure some wins when they return.
The Dolphins will face the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, and Indianapolis Colts in the next four games when they return. Their schedule continues to do them no favors as they remain winless in 2026.
