Miami Dolphins star running back De'Von Achane says he is looking forward to the matchup against his former teammate, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and his new team, the Denver Broncos.
The Miami Dolphins enter the 2026 season with little to no expectations. They’ve endured a ton of changes this offseason, one that required losing conerstones of the team like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Minkah Fitzpatrick to name a few.
With those key losses, plus navigating a massive, cap-clearing rebuild under a new front office, the Dolphins are expected to endure some hard times this upcoming season and possibly for a few more seasons.
While they lost some key players this offseason, one player they not only kept but signed to an extension is star running back De'Von Achane. Achane is viewed as the cornerstone for the franchise, treating him as such with a massive four-year, $64 milion contract extension.
On a recent podcast with former teammate Terron Armstead, Achane was asked which game he is most looking forward to. The 24-year-old did not hesitate, saying he is looking forward to playing against the Denver Broncos and his former teammate, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
"You know when we go up there and play Denver, you know I'm ready to play them for sure,” Achane said.
“It doesn't matter,” Achane said when Armstead said that he and Waddle won’t be on the field at the same time. “Because when he’s on the field, I’m talking s**t. You know how that goes."
Achane went on to say that he noticed the Dolphins will be playing almost everybody that left the organization this upcoming season.
“It’s crazy because everybody who left here, we play. We play [Jaylen Waddle], we play Mike [McDaniel] with the Chargers, we play [Bradley] Chubb twice. I want to go play in their new stadium, so I can't wait to go play there."
The Dolphins will be playing the Broncos in Week 13, the Buffalo Bills twice in Week 11 and 17 and the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 in front of their home fans.
The Broncos will certainly be a challenge as they finished with the best record in the AFC at 14-3. Denver is likely to be a juggernaut this season with a retooled offense and an elite defense.
As for the Bills, the Dolphins will see them twice this season due to them being division rivals. Buffalo is expected to be one of the best teams in the league, as well led by superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
This season figures to be a challenging one for the Dolphins, especially with the team set to face the second-hardest schedule in the league this fall.
