New Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley continues to add to his coaching staff. This time, with the addition of former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Per reports, Patullo is being added as the Dolphins' new pass-game coordinator. NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported on the hire.
"The #Dolphins are hiring Kevin Patullo as their pass-game coordinator, sources say. The #Eagles retained Patullo after making a change at OC but gave him the opportunity to search for another gig. He heads to Miami to join Jeff Hafley’s coaching staff alongside OC Bobby Slowik," Garofolo wrote on X.
Naturally, the hiring of Patullo is sure to draw red flags for fans. He was heavily criticized during the 2025 season as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles.
After weeks and months of the Eagles struggling with the likes of Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith, the blame was placed heavily on Patullo's playcalling.
Despite the criticisms, Patullo has over 20 years of experience in coaching. He began his journey at the collegiate level, serving as a graduate assistant for South Florida from 2003 to 2004.
Patullo would land his first NFL coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs as an offensive assistant and offensive quality control coach from 2007 to 2008.
Patullo would work his way through the coaching rankings at the collegiate and professional level, landing as a pass game specialist with the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. He moved to the Eagles in 2021 as pass game coordinator, where he was promoted to associate head coach in 2023, and then offensive coordinator in 2025.
Now, Patullo lands a job on Hafley's staff. He will also join Bobby Slowik, who was promoted to offensive coordinator.
Patullo will work directly with the Dolphins' next quarterback, which still remains a mystery. Plenty of reports have indicated that the team is planning to move on from Tua Tagovailoa, whether that be a trade or outright cutting him.
That leaves rookie Quinn Ewers, who only had three games to showcase his skills in 2025. The Dolphins could try Ewers out again, but they will likely bring in a veteran.
Miami has also been connected to Malik Willis, though their cap space might keep the Dolphins from being able to make a move to land the pending Green Bay Packers free agent.
