The Miami Dolphins roster reconstruction is continuing on in a big way, as the team is reportedly sending star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos.
Per Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Waddle will join Denver, pending a physical.
While Waddle being traded is not at all shocking, it does go against what general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley had been saying regarding the pass catcher being a building block.
Despite the shocking trade, the Dolphins were set to listen to all offers, and the draft capital they received was not something they were planning to shut down.
Per Ari Meirov, the Dolphins receiver No. 30 overall, a third-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and are giving up Waddle and a fourth-round pick to the Broncos.
The good news about this trade is that Waddle will get to join an immediate contender, so the Dolphins did right by the receiver by allowing him to go to a team where he can make an impact.
Waddle has been one of the most consistent playmakers in the NFL in his short career thus far. Through five seasons, he has secured 5,039 yards, 26 touchdowns, and a 13.5 yards per catch average.
Waddle led the league in yards per catch on average in 2022 with 18.1. This was his most successful season, as he brought in 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns.
Waddle brought in 910 yards and six touchdowns in 2025. Despite the Dolphins struggling through most of the season, the receiver remained one of the most consistent.
There was a lot of discussion regarding the Dolphins potentially moving more players, and that has now happened. To be fair, getting a first-round pick for a five-year player is a huge get for the Miami front office, and likely the biggest reason why they pulled the trigger on the trade.
The last remaining potential big trade chip is running back De'Von Achange, and there could be a huge case for him to be moved if the Dolphins also receive a first-round pick and more for the Pro Bowl rusher.
