Questions continue to surround Tua Tagovailoa’s and whether he will remain with the Miami Dolphins in 2026, be cut, or traded.
No one would be surprised if Tagovailoa is with a new team in 2026, no matter the capacity of his role. The question right now is not if he will be traded, but which team will land him?
That's the million-dollar question when it comes to the southpaw quarterback. A handful of teams could make their move on him, and one NFC contender has already been linked to the former Pro Bowler.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Green Bay Packers could be an appealing option for those wanting second chances, like Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray or Tagovailoa.
"If I were a guy like Kyler Murray or Tua Tagovailoa, Green Bay would be appealing to me, right?" Schefter said. "You're with a good organization, with a good system, with good, talented players. You take a year to reset yourself and decompress and learn and see things from a different perspective. There are worse places to wind up than Green Bay for one of those guys."
Schefter also added that the Packers may not be an option for either Murray or Tagovailoa if being a backup is not something they desire at the moment.
"I'm sure those guys are going to want to play and start, and that's not the case in Green Bay, but if they can't get that opportunity, then you would think a place like Green Bay would be very attractive to a lot of these guys."
Several teams could take a chance on the former passing yards leader, like the Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and possibly the Rams.
The Dolphins have shown all signs that they want to move on from Tagovailoa; however, a $54 of guaranteed money makes a trade complicated, which means Miami may end up having to keep him.
On Tuesday, new Dolphins general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan noted how everything is on the table, including a trade regarding Tagovailoa. Sullivan also added that he thinks Tagovailoa believes he's got a lot of good football left in him.
"I think Tua had some bright moments," Sullivan said. "I think Tua, if he was standing here today, would tell you there were some moments he wishes he had back, some decisions he had back. Tua accomplished a lot or has accomplished a lot of really good things in his time in Miami. I think people that are Miami Dolphins fans should be proud to have had him here, and we'll see where it goes. I think Tua believes that he can still be a high-level quarterback in this league. I think that's what his desire is to do, you know, where that happens remains to be seen, whether that's here or elsewhere."
As the Dolphins quarterback, Tagovailoa has tallied a 44-32 record in 78 games with 76 starts.
