Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has seemingly indicated what his future plans are after Tua Tagovailoa was benched by the team.

The Miami Dolphins made the major move to bench Tua Tagovailoa and are replacing him with rookie Quinn Ewers. After throwing a league-leading 15 interceptions and essentially regressing, the organization chose to move off the former first-round pick.

Tagovailoa being benched has major implications for the Dolphins team and the NFL. In fact, this decision has apparently already led to one player commenting on the benching. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill seemed to indicate on social media that his time with Miami is done.

Hill suffered a dislocated left knee, torn ACL, LCL, possible hamstring tendon damage, and cartilage damage in September, ending his season early.

There have been plenty of discussions about whether Hill would be back with the Dolphins, and his agent indicated that he would meet with Miami brass following the season to discuss just that. However, it appears the star receiver has already indicated his future plans with a cryptic post.

Hill has been a staunch supporter of Tagovailoa, going so far as to call him the "most accurate quarterback" he has ever played with. That comment alone was wild considering he used to catch passes from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Regardless, Hill has supported Tagovailoa throughout his time with the Dolphins, and it appears that he could be upset that the signal caller was benched.

Hill took to X to post a famous GIF of a man throwing up the peace sign and disappearing. The star receiver has stated multiple times that his social media is a way for him to "troll" people, but this GIF could be something quite significant.

Hill loves Tagovailoa and was likely wanting to return to the Dolphins to continue that relationship. With Tagovailoa being benched and potentially being cut during the 2026 offseason, the receiver may have seen this as the last straw for him to move on.

There have also been reports that Hill has discussed potentially retiring from the NFL. He played nearly 10 seasons in the league and is 31 years old.

That is not old by any means, but it is considered to be older in football years. Regardless, Hill will have some decisions to make, as will the Dolphins.

Miami must choose to either draft a quarterback or potentially trade for one when the 2025 season ends. The team fired general manager Chris Grier, which will give the new GM the first chance at bringing in the right quarterback.

If Ewers can impress with the final three games of the season, he may be given a longer audition in training camp. Will that be enough for Hill to want to return? Maybe, but he seems to have indicated he wants to either play for a new team or walk away from football.
