A look at where the Miami Dolphins sit among the national power rankings.
Most of the power rankings for the Miami Dolphins had the team sitting at the bottom, but there is now some movement after the team's Week 1 loss.
Despite the loss, the Dolphins did show some fight and positives that can be built upon. That might be difficult in Week 2 as they will face a very tough San Francisco 49ers team.
Here is where Miami sits in the current national power rankings:
NFL.com - No. 30
After NFL.com had the Dolphins sitting at No. 32 overall, they jumped up two spots. That was due to the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns looking far worse in their Week 1 losses.
This ranking also points to a big issue with the Miami offense, which was the low production from running back De'Von Achane, who only secured 36 rushing yards on 11 carries.
The Athletic - No. 32
The Athletic still believes that the Dolphins roster will be hard to overcome, and the fact that they trailed the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 through the entire game does not provide much confidence that this team can grind out some tough wins.
ESPN - No. 31
Similar to the NFL's ranking, the Dolphins jumped up one spot in ESPN's ranking due to the performances of rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez and wide receiver Caleb Douglas. However, beyond Douglas, the passing offense was simply not effective.
Yahoo Sports - No. 32
Yahoo Sports has a similar take to ESPN, in that the Miami roster is simply in a rebuild, and it will take some time to see some significant gains on that front. Even though the ranking stipulates that the Dolphins didn't embarrass themselves like the Titans, the South Florida team will keep their bottom spot.
The Verdict
It was well established that when general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley took over, they were taking over for the long run. The Dolphins will be rough around the edges in 2026, and Sunday's loss showed that plenty.
The silver lining to this Miami roster is that there are some strong rookie talents who are just starting to blossom. Rodriguez and Douglas were among the ones listed the most, but rookie guard Kadyn Proctor held his own plenty.
The youth movement is real in South Florida, but that youth movement might also build into a very strong roster once these inexperienced players get more snaps in the regular season.
